Once upon a time, ANG lived on the remote northern coast of Western Canada, on a 350 acre island in the midst of an enormous wilderness area.

Rendezvous Island in 1969 had 4 human inhabitants, but also had transient wolves, black bear, mink, many waterfowl and sundry small fauna.

It also sat on the edge of massive tidal rapids that could run to 24 knots - and I always wondered what it would take to harness that phenomenal energy. Now I know.

Also - have a look at the phenomenal slideshow our members have created.

Scottish ministers have announced funding for what has been described as the world's biggest wave energy farm.

The Pelamis device has been tested at the European Marine Energy Centre (Emec) on Orkney by Leith-based company Ocean Power Delivery.

Scottish Power wants to commission four more at the same site.

I remember seeing a piece on this story when they were still deciding if the project would go through.  I seem to remember the surfer's being concerned about how it would effect their community.  ANG, did you catch any of those BC coastal waves back in the day?  Sounds like some major surf!
