Ukraine vs. Tunisia
Both Ukraine and Tunisia have plenty to play for at the Olympiastadion on Friday as both nations look to book a spot in the Round of 16 alongside Spain. The Ukrainians, coming off an impressive 4-0 rout of Saudi Arabia, will enjoy the return of defender Vladislav Vashchuk from suspension and it's good as it appears that Vladimir Yezerskyi will be forced out of the game with a thigh woe yet again.
It took about 70 minutes of soccer but
it was fitting that Andriy Shevchenko(7) sent the Ukraine into the final round of sixteen on a penalty kick. Shevchenko who was fouled in-side the penalty by Haggui, simply picked himself up from the pitch, dusted himself off, and then slammed home the winner right down the middle of the goal. This match took place in front of about 70,000 thousand people today in Berlin, and Tunisia had a chance to take the second spot in this group but failed to capitalize more than once against a solid Ukrainian team who has bounced back from their opening 4-0 defeat at the hands of Spain.
Final Sccore: Ukraine 1 - Tunisia 0
Goal!!! Goal!!!
70th minute - GOAL UKRAINE! (1-0)
Goal: 7 - Shevchenko
Andriy Shevchenko is felled in the box by Karim Haggui with a poorly
times tackle. Shevchenko picks himself off the ground to score the
resulting penalty.
