Unctionasive Unga Bunga
Improvising on the guitar is quite enjoyable, especially if you half way know what you are doing. Throw a couple of chords down and off you go, never knowing the end result. After it's all done, play it back and sometimes you smile and sometimes you want to throw up. I venture to say that alot of tunes, memorable ones that is, come from just long hours of jamming, doing the same things over and over and now and then tossing a different angle in. I recently watched a Pink floyd documentary where David Gilmore stated, "We would just jam all night playing the E and A chord and that's how Comfortably Numb was created. Some are obviously more lucky than other when it comes to great tunes accidentally coming to the surface.
