The Cadre, the student newspaper at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), has survived to print another day. Recently, a student organization which runs the campus radio station attempted to gain control of The Cadre. They planned to cut the staff in half and cut back the number of issues printed per year.
The Cadre and students who support the paper worked to save The Cadre.
They have succeeded in getting the students' union to form a committee to devise a plan to get the paper more independence.
