HOUSTON (AFX) - Authorities are gearing for the largest resettlement operation in US history with hundreds of thousands of evacuees from Hurricane Katrina likely to need food, homes, schools and other essentials for months if not longer.
'This is a tremendous medium-term and long-term challenge. We are basically moving the city of New Orleans to other parts of the country,' said Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff.
