USA may find Microsoft and Time Warner patents and copyrights legally ignored by rest of world

Randy Balko explains how the US ban on internet gambling are in blatant violation of the World Trade Organisation rules.   This means aggrieved countries can retaliate by imposing sanctions.   No point, he rightly suggests, in slapping sanctions on US goods, since that would hurt consumers in the aggrieved countries.  

But how about if the EU decides to ignore US patents, copyrights and trademarks?
