ustream.tv enables Virginia Tech students to videocast live

Virginia Tech students videocasted live on location using ustream.tv in addition to their much publicized use of social media tools like Facebook, YouTube and flickr. Videocasting isn't new. What is new is how much more accessible this is. Now anybody can do this with an Internet connection and a webcam and a computer using ustream.tv. I not affiliated with ustream.tv in any way by the way; just a happy user who will be using ustream.tv to videocast live hockey punditry which we are calling 'Canucks Outsider Live'.

And with affordable (at least in the United States) third generation mobile connections (EV-DO and HSDPA for acronym geeks) there is a mobile mojo angle. Laptop + 3G connection + WebCam = mobile broadcasting studio. In other words, it's the beginning of the anybody can broadcast anything anywhere reality.
