I'm on my way to the Delaware shore this weekend, and this bit of news wasn't the greatest to hear. Luckily, the place I'm going doesn't have problems. I've bookmarked the map resources for checking the latest water quality/beach closure news - I'd hate to head out for the weekend only to find out I'm stuck with the hotel pool.
The water at American beaches was unsafe for swimming a record number of days last year, according to the 17th annual beach water quality report released Tuesday by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

kimbere, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag. First, I think your headline needs some work. Although it hints at what your story will be about, it's not quite there yet. Consider other headlines and see if there's a better way to get people's attention.
Also, I'd like some more of you in this piece. What brought you to this story? Why does it interest you? Were you planning a vacation this year? Check out some other highlighted pieces to see how people handle highlight with their own words as backup.

Kaitlin, thanks! Really. I just found NowPublic about an hour ago and I've been trying to figure out how to use it. I'll work on your suggestions.
