The Province Newspaper neglected to post this Violent Sex Offenders photo, perhaps The Province needed the Advertising Space.  For Now Public Readers, I found a Photograph of this Violent Sex Offender, who may be in the Downtown Eastside Area.

A high-risk sex offender with a history of violent assaults has walked away from a Vancouver halfway house and police say he may be looking for alcohol or drugs on the Downtown Eastside.

Norman Eli Larue, 25, is wanted for breach of parole. He is serving a 51/2-year sentence for aggravated sexual assault with a knife, plus a long-term supervision order that adds 10 years of parole supervision and conditions.

In the assault, he slashed a woman's throat so badly her doctor was amazed she survived, say parole documents.

"Because of this guy's violence and extreme violence that took place in his last assault, that's what concerns us," said Const. Howard Chow. "He's to be considered very dangerous and very violent. Anybody who sees or knows of his whereabouts should not approach, just call 911."

The parole documents say Larue has a history of violence and sex offences, including gang ties, and has been assessed as a "high risk to reoffend."

He was released on parole last March 2 amid protests from his case management team, who believed he was "likely to commit an offence causing serious harm . . . they do not believe that there are adequate supervision measures to manage [Larue's] risk."

Police say he may frequent the Eastside. His previous haunts include Commercial Drive and Granville and Hastings Streets.

Larue is native, six foot two and 240 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair that is shaved on the sides with a long ponytail in the back. He has a goatee, a tattoo of an eagle and feathers on his right forearm and a scar over his left eye. lapayton@png.canwest.com
