It is election season here, but residents say a lot more is at stake than politics.

Stockholders of the H. J. Heinz Company will cast their final ballots on Wednesday to decide whether an investment group will gain a near majority on the board. Many people here fear that if the investors win enough seats they will eventually move the company’s headquarters from this city, where it has been for more than a century.
