In a day that will be marked in Indigenist history, the colonial Australian government returned a substantial tract of territory to its original owners.  In a stunning move, the courts returned 50, 000 hectares of land as part of a multimillion dollar settlement in favour of the Indigenous community.  - The Angryindian

WA Indigenous group welcomes largest land handover - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation): "The Miriuwung Gajerrong people are today celebrating Western Australia's largest land hand back. The State Government has given back 50,000 hectares of land on the Western Australian-Northern Territory border. The handover is part of the $56 million Ord Final Agreement between the state and the community. Chairwoman of the Miriuwung Gajerrong Corporation, Edna O'Malley, says while she is sad many of the elders who fought for the land have died, she is happy future generations will benefit from it. 'It gives you your pride back. It's something that you can hold and you own now and you can do things without nobody having a say over you,' she said."
