Rural Bangladesh is religiously conservative. I found it rather odd that men and women were in segregated lines. I found it ever weirder that it was the women that got the food, and the men that got other things like water. But, I guess, the NGO doing the distribution was just being practical and realistic.

My 30 blankets were distributed regardless of gender though - and went to needy families.
