Wal-Mart Stores sold its German portfolio of 85 hypermarkets to local retailer Metro AG, ending nine years of business in the country. Though terms of the deal were not disclosed, Wal-Mart will incur a pre-tax loss of approximately $1 billion on the sale, it said.
