Wal-Mart's leap into the online download market means that most people who download movies (legally) now have a choice beyond iTunes. But is a choice like Wal-Mart the one that consumers will want? Or flock to? Remember that Wal-Mart is pretty fierce about its audience and so-called "decency" in its chosen media, so the likelihood that you will be able to get, say, Tarantino films on Wal-Mart's site is pretty slim...

The newest kid on the new media block is...Wal-Mart?

Wal-Mart announced a deal Tuesday with six major Hollywood studios to allow video and television downloading from its web site. As in most categories, Wal-Mart is a giant in retail video sales. The company is hoping this move will help it hold on to that position on line as well.
