'The War on Democracy' is John Pilger's first major film for the cinema - in a career that has produced more than 55 television documentaries. Set in Latin America and the US, it explores the historic and current relationship of Washington with countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile."The film tells a universal story," says Pilger, "analysing and revealing, through vivid testimony, the story of great power behind its venerable myths. It allows us to understand the true nature of the so-called war on terror".
The War on Democracy will be released in Australia and New Zealand in September.

Tom van B, I like this story. It's good stuff. Sadly John Pilger and Amie Goodman never recovered from their adventures in
East Timor. Its interesting to note that they were both witness to the
Indonesian miliyaries Mass murder there.
John Pilgers biggest mistake was to take on Uncle Rupert. We should all be very very nice to uncle Rupert :)

Yep, you don't mess with big uncle Rupert. I saw a doc the other day about the relationship between Rupert and Tony Blair. Whenever Rupert arrived in London, little old Tony would be expected to visit him (not the other way around). Tony would duly arrive at the hotel Rupert was staying to brief the media boss about whatever was happening in the UK at that time.
I wonder how many ordinary Americans have ever heard the name John Pilger. My feeling is not many. Cheers, Tom.
