Two Mexican police officers are dead after gunmen storm a hospital in
Tijuana and take hostages.  The chaos began around ten-thirty Wednesday
morning with a gun battle at Tijuana's main bus station.  That's where
police shot and killed a suspected drug trafficker and wounded another
suspect.

Mexican authorities say that suspect was taken to General
Hospital, which is about half a mile from the U.S.-Mexico border.
About half hour later, eight gunmen stormed the hospital trying to find
that injured suspect.

Tijuana police and federal officers evacuated several floors
and surrounded the building after the gunmen took up to 20 people
hostage.  Shots were fired killing two state police officers.  One of
the suspects also died in the gunfire.

One suspect was taken into custody but the rest of the gunmen
got away.  Tijuana's police chief thinks they're from one of the local
drug gangs.

Over the past three months, Mexico has been trying to crack
down on those gangs which could be responsible for more than 300
killings in Tijuana last year.
