Watching Hollywood Burn

Today I parked on the top floor of the eight story parking structure. I like to go up there because it has an amazing view of the city. Hollywood to Los Feliz. Beverly Hills to Culver City. The Downtown skyline. Today, a fire burned strong just over the hill behind the famous HOLLYWOOD sign. I met my friend downstairs by the fountain and then we headed back up to the top floor to watch the fire.

Helicopters circled dropping water. Smoke billowed black, and white and dusty brown. At times, we could see the flames peak over the crest of the mountain and burn high into the smoky sky. It looked as though HOLLYWOOD might burn.

And of course, being good Angelinos, we were entertained completely for all of about 5 minutes and then decided to retreat back down into the Disney-esque, make believe world of The Farmers Market for French cheese and mint chocolates. Leaving our fair city to get by on it's own, to burn or not burn while we enjoyed our delicacies.
