Air Force Chief of Staff Vice Marshal Subandrio said the Air Force had sent a team to Riau province to investigate the factors that had caused the crash of an Air Force S-58T Twin-Pac helicopter and the presence of seven Singaporean civilians on the flight.
"They will be investigated, too, whether their presence in the Air Force`s helicopter was approved through the proper procedures," Vice Marshal Subandrio said here on Tuesday.
He made the statement after attending a ceremony of TNI (Indonesian Military) Chief post transfer from Marshal Djoko Suyanto to General Djoko Santoso at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.
As of Tuesday (Jan. 8), the Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee Team (PPKPT) was working to find out the causes of the accident, he said.
The Indonesian Air Force helicopter crashed in Lubuk Agung village, Gandar sub district, Pelalawan, Riau province, on Monday.
The helicopter went down two kilometers from the eastern trans Sumatra highway linking Pekanbaru to Pangkalan Kerinci, according to eyewitnesses.
Robert Candran, a Singaporean national of Indian descent, was killed in the crash while nine other passengers were either seriously or slightly injured.
