The tropical storm Ivo has continued weakening and became a tropical depression this sunday dawn.

Some moderate rain is expected as it crosses the south of Baja California.

At 9:00 am this morning Ivo was located at 180 km. to the west-southwest of Cabo San Lucas moving to the northeast at 8km. per hour. The tropical depression is expected to enter the south end of the peninsula between Todos Santos and Cabo in a dissipating state.

Things are calm in the city of La Paz, it feels very hot  but basically it is the humidity that makes residents and tourists feel suffocated and faint. Cloud formations can be seen over the mountains but there are no signs of hurricane wind yet.

Local residents are known for their good humor under any circumstance, including earthquakes and hurricanes and the latest local joke is: What did the city of La Paz answer to Hurricane Henriette when it said it was coming? answer: See how I'm trembling! I wonder what the city will say to Ivo, the second hurricane expected to hit Baja this season?

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico (AP): Hurricane Ivo picked up some speed
late Thursday as it curved toward Mexico's Pacific coast on path that
could take it near Baja Califorina's resorts over the weekend, the U.S.
NationalHurricane Center said.

The Hurricane Center said Ivo was likely to
weaken into a tropical storm before hitting land Sunday. But it warned
that any prediction of what its intensity would be over the weekend was
"highly uncertain'' and urged people in the peninsula to closely
monitorIvo.

Authorities in Cabo San Lucas began advising residents to buy water and
food. Emergency officers planned to meet Friday to assessIvo's progression.

"Ivo's movement has been erratic and it has been changing its trajectory and as authorities we need to be prepared,'' said Cabo San Lucas Mayor Luis Armando Diaz.

The area was hit Sept. 4 by Hurricane Henriette, which killed 10 people, including two Japanese tourists, and destroyed about 2,000 homes.
