Searchers Looking For Missing Boater

Another winter storm passed over Vancouver Island last night.  It brought with it gale force winds and dropped snow on many areas.  It also brought disaster to some boaters in Pylades Channel, a normally placid waterway.  The boat overturned in the high winds. Four of the boaters were rescued, but one person overboard was still missing this morning.

This area of the coast is placid in the summer, but when the winter storms come in from the Pacific, the winds curl around from the southeast and have clear sailing up Georgia Strait.  The water is cold here and especially unforgiving in the winter.

The video was shot this morning.  The still photo was taken last summer.  This is part of the search area.
