Some very dramatic weather in the US Midwest last night, with tornados in Missouri Northern Illinois. At least two dead, three hospitalized and several homes destroyed.

UNDATED -- The storm that passed over the Quad Cities Monday night created tornados that touched down in Northern Illinois.

Three people were taken to the hospital, and six or seven homes were destroyed by the storm.

The owner of an apple farm says he lost four historic buildings, but survived the on-coming storm.

"You're just praying and just thinking about your family, and you hope you survive. It was really quick. You don't really have a whole lot of time to think. You duck and cover and hope you don't get hit," says apple farmer Ken Hall

Four of his historic buildings were leveled by the storm and another six were damaged.

NWS is also investigating reports of a tornado in Poplar Grove, Illinois, near Rockford, and one in Tazewell County near Peoria.

Meteorologists say the last time a tornado touched down in January in north-central or northeastern Illinois was 1950.

This view was taken from the front porch of my apartment. The clouds were shooting across the sky at an extreme rate of speed and becoming increasingly dark as the evening wore on.

O'fallon, Missouri....January 7, 2008. View from the deck of my house, looking Southwest, waiting for the storms to approach. I did receive 2.75 inches of rain according to my rain gauge. Lots of Heavy rain, wind was the main impact here.

This is part of the same system that produced tornadoes in Kenosha and Walworth counties on Monday Jan 7, 2008. This is seen looking south from UW-Milwaukee. The tornadoes developed about thirty miles south.
