The outer bands of Typhoon Krosa, the latest tropical cyclone that came knocking on our door this season, have dissipated almost as quickly as the storm increased in intensity yesterday. The cyclone still remains a Category 4 typhoon. Here's a look at the weather conditions on Okinawa, at 6:16 a.m. 5 October 2007, as the storm heads towards Taiwan.
For a comparison look at what happens when the affects of a strong typhoon do hit island, I tried adding footage from Typhoon Man-Yi on Friday the 13th of July 2007. There seems to be a problem with the upload. The footage may be seen at this URL for the playlist Typhoon Shots

I'm still having some problems with the uploader and noticed that the video for the final update ended up a scratchy audio file. I'll try reloading the video. A copy can be found at the playlist Tyhpoon Shots URL above.
Also, since the original final update report, Typhoon Krosa has intensified. We still are not expected to have gusts stronger than 50 mph. If conditions change enough to warrant another update, it will be posted on 6 October.
