Typhoon Krosa has intensified further today over the north eastern Philippine Sea. According to latest data from the Japanese Meteorological Agency on 4th October 1200 GMT typhoon Krosa, meaning crane (bird) in Khmer, has sustained winds of 105mph with gusts to 150mph.
The current forecast is uncertain however it is looking more likely that Krosa will impact northern Taiwan as a major typhoon this weekend. In August this year typhoon Sepat ploughed into central Taiwan with ferious winds and torrential rain killing one.
Typhoons regularly strike Japan, China, Taiwan and the Philippines over the summer and autumn months.
I will travel to Taiwan tomorrow to cover this developing situation. For more information please consult the following websites.
