This is the new customs plaza at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie, Ontario. Funny story about how I got to stand here, at an unopened customs plaza with my camera. On the way into the USA, for our geocaching trip we decided it was time to go get those little pieces of paper to identify our electronics as having originated in Canada (with the tax paid already!). We parked on the Canadian side, followed the most obvious route over to the Customs building (an unlabelled pedestrian bridge - looked obvious to us). Ended up wandering around in the Refugee detention area somehow and a couple handy-dandy customs officials showed us the proper way to go. What was really interesting is how they told us to just wander over to the old building, across this construction site. Even more interesting was that noboby bothered us while we were walking back to our car - basically we just wandered from "no man's land" back to our car - and even took some pictures en route. Glad we didn't get held in that detention area!
