KEXP has a rad blog, and it provides a great spring board into a great question.  What was your album of the year, 2006?

In this article Chilly has released a solid list of this years best Full-length albums.  I would certainly put any of these bands at the top of my list.

Besides every December brings forth great end of the year questions, and nothing helps you remember like a little review, because it can get a little foggy, especially if you like going out.

You know like, I went there this year?  It's December? I did what with you?  It's ok to ask good questions...

Now I literally lived in the middle of nowhere. A town of 250 people in rural Northwestern Montana. Still I was able to keep myself somewhat hip to what was going on thanks to Rolling Stone, Spin and mail order catalogs from Sub Pop, Matador and SST. I grew up on a steady diet of hip-hop, metal and the recently coined “alternative” rock. For every Pixies record I bought I was also buying Sepultura and Tupac. Anyway, the “best” guitarists listed in these guitar magazines often eluded me. I mean who the hell was Yngwie Malmsteen or Joe Satriani? I must be missing out I thought and promptly bought some of these CDs. Now these guys sure had chops no doubt, but something just wasn’t grabbing me. Maybe the best, but not anything I’d want to listen to. OK, OK shut the fuck up Chilly and give us the list already…

Josh Ritter The Animal Years is the one I keep going back to.  Except I just remembered that the Roots' Game Theory came out this year, too, and it's just as good.  And I've got to say something about Neighbourhood by Manu Katche and Wonder Wheel by the Klezmatics.
