What is VIRB? Did you get invited?

I came across a long stream of photographs where people were doing there best to get invited to VIRB. And the I started digging around and found some interesting blog posts about the social networking site.

I have 16 PLENTY of Virb invites for the first people to post a photo to Flickr holding a handmade sign that says “VIRB!” or some variation thereof. The photo must be tagged “virb”, added to the Virb Flickr Pool, and you have to post a link in the comment section of this post. After you have completed all these Herculean tasks, send me an email and I’ll send you your invite.

1, 2, 3, go!

I was chatting with a guy I advise tonight and we were talking about social networking sites, etc. and in passing he mentioned that he liked Virb but there were some things he didn't and I interrupted , "They launched?"

He said well not really but that he was into some hipster indie scene and got invited and had been checking it out. I said," Cough cough, invite me!' Which he did. Spent a few minutes on tonight. Will do some more tonight. The guys behind it are smart and it's been a long time in the baking. Can't wait to report my thoughts a bit later.

Thank you "lets take your car," I did get an invite from a nice Flickr member. I was checking the site out last night. Still lots of construction, but it is an interesting concept which I am looking forward to watching as it changes.
