NP Rank:
What Nerdz Want!
The world has waited in long lines outside electronic stores for the launch.
I noticed a long line outside of Best Buy next to the cities main bridge last night. It was freezing in the city and obvious nerds (only people waiting for some type of video game, video game system, or starwars wait in lines at Best Buy, as the rest of us would rather wait until the last possible minute to be ripped off by over priced electronic devices) were all bundled up, awaiting something, it must have been big. Most people who are say, homeless, would not think about sitting around in the cold if they had somewhere to go, but these players were sitting tight until the doors opened for World WarCraft. Rock On!
Best Buy plastered downtown Vancouver with flyers advertising the release like it was some sort of rave in a wharehouse in Surrey with DJ Woozy. It's rare that a major retailer engages in this sort of paper and tape marketing at the street level; I've certainly hardly ever seen it in Vancouver. So did it work? Did you line up at midnight for your copy, or did you think it was an indie band and pass on by?
