Search engines like Google are increasingly in the news, both
because of privacy concerns and questions around censorship and
filtering of search results. Tom Fudge, host of KPBS Radio program These Days, moderates a panel of experts discussing the ethical issues surrounding internet search engines.

Panelists:

  • Larry Hinman is the Director of the Values Institute and Professor of Philosophy at the University of San Diego.
  • David Brin is a science fiction writer and author of The Transparent Society: Will Technology Force Us to Choose Between Privacy and Freedom.
  • Lance Cottrell is the Founder, President, and Chairman of Anonymizer, Inc.
  • Pam Dixon is the Founder and Executive Director of the World Privacy Forum.

Recorded March 20, 2006 at the University of San Diego, Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice Auditorium

Sponsored by The Center for Ethics in Science and Technology.

Produced by KPBS
