NP Rank:
Wild and Woolly Now Oldest Motocross Event
This year's 81st annual "Wild and Woolly" made it the longest-running motocross event in the world. Hosted by the Northamptonshire (England) Motorcyclists' Club, and held every year on Boxing Day, the event very nearly didn't take place as the land near Blisworth, Northants, had recently changed hands. This year's mild winter made the event only slightly more bearable to the riders, who nonetheless received their usual mud coating as they followed the looping circuit through rivers and fields for up to an hour. In previous years, the rivers have actually been frozen.
Ryan Griffiths, riding in the 'experts' category, finished first overall having completed 17 laps, followed by Mark Elliott and Dennis Harrison.
