On black
An old man sells posters of Benazir Bhutto in the street, in Rawalpindi. Taken after the elections, this is not part of the PPP campaign: there's really a genuine fascination for her amongst the people, especially in the Sindh, her native province. Her tragic death turned her into a martyr, a symbol and an icon, obliterating the facts (2 mandates tainted by corruption charges, few reforms, and little changes on the women condition). Even the circumstances of her death are clouded with mystery: was she killed by the explosion (knocking her head against the car rooftop), as the official version of the government pretends (backed by the Scotland Yard investigation) or shot by the gunman (as her family claims) ? Many people believe there's a cover-up and more or less directly blame Musharraf, but the Bhutto family has always refused exhuming the body for an autopsy, which would be the only way to ascertain the cause of her death. Both PPP and PML-N have however agreed that one the first measure of their new government would be to request an investigation by the UN.
