A government report released Tuesday says a middle-income family with a child born last year will spend about $221,000 raising that child through age 17.The report identified housing as the largest single expense, followed by food and child care/education costs. The $221,000 in expenses rises to about $292,000 when adjusted for inflation.

Raising children is expensive.
A child requires an 18 year
commitment of time and money
from the parents.However most
people view children as well worth
the investment.Yet it seems that
the cost goes even higher every
year.

An investment? I think that is 'parent propaganda' at work. Some end up as murderers and a great 'disappointment' say by choosing a different occupation or religion even to what 'they wanted'. They don't get refunds on their investments if that happens.

There is no guarantee on children. You never know what will happen.

I think I started as being a 'non-investment' was when I started to talk. My mother loved it when I was small and controllable. As soon as you have a different opinion, in any way, she was out that door!
