1 dead, 3 injured after cement truck wreck
A 41-year-old woman died and a five-year-old child has been hospitalized in critical condition, after what is being described as a 'freak accident' happened in Dallas, Texas earlier today.
Dallas police say a cement truck vaulted a center barrier and landed on the sport-utility vehicle the woman was driving.
Police Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse tells Dallas-Fort Worth television station KXAS that the southbound truck was carrying a load of cement about 2:30 p.m. Friday on Texas 183 near Interstate 35E. He says the truck driver reported he swerved to avoid another vehicle when the truck vaulted the center barrier, struck a northbound motorcycle and landed on top of the SUV.
Janse says the SUV driver was killed immediately, while the child was taken to Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Danse said the cement truck driver and motorcyclist were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
No identities have been released.
