1 security personnel injured in mine attack in Mohmand Agency

GHALLANAI: An other mine wounded security personnel seriously when it went off in Chenari area of tehsil <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Safi bordering Afghanistan some 65 kilometers to the north from regional headquarters, Ghallanai, on Monday morning, sources told.

The sources said that a vehicle of security forces was on its way to upper Mohmand when a planted anti-tank mine ripped through their vehicle injuring one security personnel near Chenari area of tehsil Safi. According to sources, the vehicle was also partially damaged and the injured identified as sepahi Jehan Zeb was immediately shifted to the Ghallanai hospital. An other recent mine attack took place on Khasadar forces’ vehicle on February 17. The worst such incident of mine blast occurred on October 24, 2009 in Sorandara of tehsil Safi when a vehicle carrying civilian passengers to a wedding hit an anti-tank mine, killing 16 people including two men, five women and nine children. Mine attacks and blowing government installations have seen immense increase in the previous two weeks. More than 30 schools including 14 girls’ school have been blown up so far.
