Tonight, I went to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota and watched Senator Barack Obama announce that he has successfully gained enough delegates to clinch the Democratic Presidential Nomination. After months of wishing, hoping, voting, and calling, my political dream has come true.
Tonight, I watched a city's attention fall captive to a man who was essentially unknown four years ago. A man whose charisma, optimism, leadership, and beliefs launched him into political stardom. Senator Obama has drawn unprecedented crowds and mobilized new voters throughout the country. He has overcome the odds that were stacked against him even six months ago and shown what kind of president he could be, winning the votes of Americans all along the way.
Tonight, I saw the potential for a better future in this country. A future where citizens throughout the US work together to fix the deep problems that exist in our economy, our foreign policy, and our environment.
Tonight, I witnessed history.
