A controversial Nebraska law that allows parents to abandon their children without fear of prosecution has resulted in 11 kids being left in hospital emergency rooms.  Critics of the "Safe Haven Law" predicted that this sort of thing would happen, and they seem to have been right.

Eleven children ranging in age from 1 to 17 were left at hospitals Wednesday under Nebraska's unique safe haven law, which allows caregivers to abandon youngsters up to age 19 without fear of prosecution. Nine of the children came from one family. The five boys and four girls were left by their father, who was not identified, at Creighton University Medical Center's emergency room. Unrelated boys ages 11 and 15 also were surrendered Wednesday at Immanuel Medical Center.

even though it is sad, the other possible outcome could have been much worse.

Tina Kells, I like this story. It's good stuff. Society need to change and be responsible and accountable again.
