11-year old girl gives birth to baby on her wedding day

An 11-year old girl, Kordeza Zhelyazkova (see pic), gave birth to a 5lb 8oz baby girl, Violeta, on her wedding day. She married Jeliazko Dimitrov (see pic), 19, who is the father to her child.

The couple met on the playgrounds of Kordeza's Roma gypsy school in Sliven, Bulgaria, where Jeliazko rescued Kordeza from bullies mocking her. The two soon started to date thereafter and Kordeza got pregnant within a week.

"I haven't had sex education classes and I didn't know how to get pregnant. I'd never had a boyfriend and I'd never heard of condoms."

"I used to play with my toys but now she is my new toy. She is so beautiful, I love her. Violeta is the child and I must grow up. I am not going back to school - I am a mother now."

Jeliazko is not allowed to live with Kordeza because he is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office for having sex with a girl under the age of 14. He could face a jail sentence of two to six years in prison.

"I thought she was 15. She didn't tell me she was 11."

"Jeliazko said: "I'm scared. I want to look after my wife and child. Instead I may be going to prison. I made a mistake but I am not going to apologise for that because now I have beautiful Violeta."

Wow, I don't even really know what to say about this story, it's horrible and sad and really shocking.

OMG! 11 years! Is marriage allowed in Bulgaria for guys at 19 let alone girls at 11 or 15?

Though the age of consent which varies by countries seems to be 14 there:

The age of consent in Bulgaria is 14, as specified by Articles 149 and 151 (1). However Article 151(2) has a provision for those who are over 14 and do "not understand the characteristics or the importance of the act."

Art. 151. (1) Who copulates with a person who has not accomplished 14 years of age, inasmuch as the act does not constitute a crime according to art. 152, shall be punished by imprisonment of two to five years.' [1]

Art. 149. (1) Who commits an act in order to arouse or satisfy a sexual desire without a copulation regarding a person who has not accomplished 14 years of age shall be punished for fornication by imprisonment of up to five years. [1]

This is a bunch of bull!! I am Bulgarian and have never heard of this!! Those people are Roma Gypsies and they live in Bulgaria. I don't know if their age consent is different because that just does not happen to girls at that age in Bulgaria. The Gypsies live a completely different life than the regular citizens of Bulgaria. Gypsies live in tents and Roam like nomads. It's probably a hoax because she does not look 11 at all, did you see the size of her boobs alone?? I have a 13 year old and she looks at least 4 or 5 years younger than this girl. (and my kid is right in her age bracket). Don't belive everything you read. Most children that get pregnant at that age (reare), cannot give birth or the pregnancy is terminated because they are too small.

I agree MamaT. I've never seen any 11 year old that looks that "mature".

She looks older than my 18 year old daughter. I saw photos of the "girl" and watched the video. Besides looking much older than any 11 year old, her voice seems to belie the claims that she is only 11 years old. She sounds older than my daughter and her 18 and 19 year old friends.

My neighbors niece is aged 12 and was a very early bloomer who went through puberty before she was 11 years old- but she still has a little girl face and voice, and in no way does she look like a mature teenager or young woman like the one in the story.
