(CNN) -- A heavily armed gunman killed at least 14 people and wounded 50 more during an early Friday morning screening of the new Batman movie at an Aurora, Colorado, theater, police Chief Dan Oates told reporters.

Police arrested a man believed to be the shooter in a rear parking lot of the theater, Frank Fania, a police spokesman, told CNN. The suspect was not immediately identified, though Fania said he was believed to be in his early 20s.

"He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said. Police seized a rifle and a handgun from the suspect, and another gun was found in the theater, he said.

The new steps came the same day that Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey testified in a closed-door hearing before the House Armed Services Committee. Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) said afterward that he was satisfied with the steps the Pentagon was taking to crack down on leakers...... The new emphasis on leaks in Washington comes after a series of stories involving classified information, including reports on a U.S. cyberattack on Iran and a double agent in Yemen who infiltrated al Qaeda. Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed two U.S. attorneys to investigate the leaks...... McKeon said Thursday he did not believe the leakers came from within the Pentagon..... Some Americans are being tracked like animals, with 24/7 surveillance, harassment, illegal home intrusions, vandalism, thefts, defamation and more. Throw into this mix, the billions of dollars being used to create what has rightly been termed the "terror"-industrial-complex. We have InfraGard, DHS, fusion centers, militarized police forces, billion dollar NSA surveillance facilities and we still can't prevent incidents like the one in Aurora, Colorado. This is a guy who bought 6000 rounds of ammunition over the internet, albeit in small quantities over the course of a month, if the reports are accurate and was still able to fly under the radar. Or so we're being told.

There is still the unknown possibility, that individuals like this James Holmes, who seemingly just go ballistic for no apparent reason, may have been targets of your aforementioned "terror militarized industrial complex" stalking, government electronic surveillance, torture programs. Per the most recent news disclosure about this James Holmes mental status and activities, this guy sounds like he was ready to dive off the deep end. Something other than gangstalking or possibly electronic mind control attack set this guy in motion. He seems to have been leaning towards some actual medical condition of psychosis.

bulllcrap. 12 are dead right away?? People usualy die on the way to the hospital. none of the 58 shot died.. bullcrap. People shot do die later. How did 1 guy sneak a duffel bag full of guns and riot gear to the exit door, then how did nobody notice him gearing up? How did he gear up and start shooting in a split second?? just trolled that Lil Wayne released a video with exactly 12 skeletons in a movie theater while he shields himself from gunfire. Of course, police new about this shooting. Usually there are 6 or 7 cops at that theater during a premier. Shooter neuroscience T.I. PHD student, kidnapped and tortured. Shooter opened door and let in rubber bullet shooter. There was 2 men who threw smoke bombs. Victims may have been fake like westwest said.
