As an SUV was being driven up to be put on auction at the Tri-State Auto Auction in Crestwood, Illinois, it reportedly accelerated into a group of people, struck a minivan and crashed through a door outside, injuring more people. Three people suffered serious injuries and six others were brought to hospital with moderate wounds. Three others were transported with minor injuries.

Twelve people were injured, three of them critically, when a sport-utility vehicle went out of control and plowed into a crowd of people at a Crestwood auto auction Wednesday morning.
At about 11:45 a.m., the Crestwood Fire Department responded to an accident at the Tri-State Auto Auction and transported 12 people to area hospitals, according to Crestwood Fire Department Capt. Kevin McAuliffe.
Preliminary reports from witnesses indicated that a car that was being brought up for auction suddenly accelerated, ran through a crowd of people inside the auction building, and struck a minivan before driving through a doorway outside where it crashed into another crowd of people.
