13 die in Pakistan suicide bombing

As the Pakistanis were still in a shock after over a half dozen bombings, including suicide attacks, in Lahore Friday, a suicide bombing killed 13 people, including policemen and security personnel, in Pakistan's troubled Swat district on Saturday.

MINGORA: At least 13 persons, including police and security personnel, died and several others sustained injuries in a suicide blast outside the district court in Pakistan’s troubled Swat district on Saturday.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO) of Swat, a rickshaw-riding suicide bomber was heading to a checkpoint of police and army when the security personnel fired at him. The bomber could not reach the checkpoint because of the heavy security.According to sources in the security forces, the bomber rammed his vehicle into a checkpoint of the security forces, killing 13 people including three policemen and a soldier of security forces on the spot. The dead and injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital at Saidu Sharif.Several vehicles caught fire and five of them were completely destroyed.The body parts of the bomber, including head and legs, were found and according to experts at least 14 kilograms of explosives material was used in the blast.Medical Superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital Saidu Sharif Dr Lal Noor said at least eight bodies including those of police and security personnel were brought to the hospital while the critically injured were sent to Peshawar.Curfew was clamped on the main road after the incident.
