13 Members of the Same Family, The Gambino Family, Have Now Been Arrested

13 members of the Gambino family, one of the mafia families said to be in charge of organized crime in New York, have been arrested for charges ranging from murder, to jury tampering and child sex trafficking. Other charges include racketeering, extortion, narcotics trafficking, loansharking, illegal gambling, assault and wire fraud.

According to the United States Attorney Southern District of New York, the names of those charged are as follows:

Daniel Marino, Thomas Orefice, Onofrio Modica, Dominick Difiore, Anthony Manzella, Michael Scotto, Michael Scarpaci, Thomas Scarpaci, David Eisler, Salvatore Borgia, Steve Maiurro, Keith Dellitalia, Suzanne Porcelli and Anthony Vecchione.

Onofrio Modica was arrested on April 16, but the others were arrested on Tuesday April 20. Steve Mairrro has been charged along with other family members but has not been arrested at this time and is still at large.

The family members will all make an appearance in court on Tuesday.

In the indictment, members of the crime family are charged with four murders.

The Gambino family has been a member of the Mafia for many years and they operate not only in New York, but as far west as California. They were once considered the most powerful crime family in America, and are named after the Carlo Gambino who is thought to have assassinated Albert Anastasia in 1957 to take over the family.

It is thought at this time that Daniel Marino is the current boss of the Gambino family.

Child sex trafficking? I don't remember prostitution of minors being a part of the Godfather or the Sopranos? I think bad just got way worse with the Gambino family: bit.ly/b6jRNX
