A 13 year-old was axed to death and a 7 year-old moderately wounded today by a lone Arab terrorist in the Jewish community of Bat Ayin, south of Jerusalem.  The terrorist managed to get away and is still on the loose after being tackled by a community resident.

Well here you go, the Jerusalem Post reports that less than an hour after the attack, "the Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility. A murky terrorist group calling itself the Martyrs of Imad Mughniyeh also claimed responsibility for the attack in an e-mail sent to the Associated Press.

For its part, Hamas called the attack a natural response to the "occupation."

"This attack was committed in the framework of the resistance," Ayman Taha, a spokesperson for the group said. "This is a reaction to the continuing occupation and the continued building of settlements."

So now you know what Arab "resistance" is all about--the murder of teenagers. Does every other group in the world with grievances react in the same way??

we need to be careful with the way the incidents like these are described if there is a potential for a political or racial voilence.  comments like these are what eventually lead to Fascism and racism.  Lets interchange the victim and the criminal’s  identity., if the attacker happened to be an ultra-orthodox Jew and the victim was an Arab teenager would you have accepted the caption as,  an innocent Gaza refugee mercilessly killed by a Zionist terrorist.

If that was the case I would have objected to that inflammatory and irresponsible phrasing of a horrific incident.  Lets try to have the same yardstick and fairness when describing such incidences regardless of the nationalities and religions of the accused and victims.

as far as claiming the responsibility is concerned that is irrelevent, resistances, terrorists and militants across the world are known to make false claims for self projections and political gains.

by the way, I fully conmden all acts of voilence against the people of Israel at the hands of palestinians and other Arabs..

this is no way of projecting your suffering by causing the same to someone else.

Sorry Johnny but yes it was a terrorist and Hamas claimed responsibility.

Amaad for my part it is appropriate that IF an Israeli committed  a terrorist attack on an innocent 13 year old Arab boy etc.  it would be appropriate to call him an Israeli-terrorist. Zionist is not appropriate in my humble opinion.

Hi Johnny,

I think that in our neighborhood we don't put too many politiclly correct concerns on whether the perpetrator of this vicious attack on a young boy is Arab, Jewish or what. If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, then it usually is just that. I think that this "kumbaya" stuff is a luxury we can't afford in this part of town.

thanks for correcting me Tikun.. I didnt mean to offend in anyway.. after reading old and new comments I am having a second thought now.. a violent criminal or a thug is actually causing terror among the people so terrorist is not a wrong description.
maybe my objection was to the fact that Muslim and terrorist have become synonymous. but I see what you are saying and I thank you for that.I think the west can learn to give a rest to this over obligation to political correctness as well.
re the use of Zionist, I think I must apologise if it is a degrading or offensive way of describing Jews (conspiracy theory). as far as I know it is used for politically and economically strong Jewish organisations that have big say in media and western politics but I might be wrong.

How awful - I cannot even imagine it.

It's now 11:15 p.m here in Israel--about 10 hours since the axe attack claimed the life of teenager Shlomo Nativ.  Shlomo was buried at 5 p.m a few miles away from his village.  The terrorist is still on the loose, as massive forces of Border Patrol and IDF soldiers comb  the area for the murderer.

I hope he is captured by the Palestians themselves and handed over.

sadcontext

To add more sad context to this tragedy, and to show how dire the morass in the Israel-Palestine relationship has become...we have this horrific murder of a child which is the worst type of murder on one side. The other younger child ,who was injured and is in hospital, has a father imprisoned for his part in plotting to attack a Palestinian girls school

That is is the sad reality that is the Israeli-palestine conflict - where reason seems sunservient to insanity

I am outraged at this fellow moonwolf and his innuendos and hateful remarks. I have been a lurker at now public for quite a while and find you sir to be totally out of line and offensive. You sir think it just fine saying rude things about Jews or for that matter anyone you do not particularly disagree with. Not your finest hour sir.

I am outraged and notfor profits outrage.

So killing children with a bomb dropped from 30,000 feet is not terrorism, but killing someone with an axe is?

djsblack,

Justifying horrible acts: a technique you are very familiar with."

No you are justifying the brutal murder of a child for political purposes by the Arab Palestinians by attempting to compare it with an allegation:

"Not to justify this crime, but to bring some context and balance to this horrible story, here is a link to a BBC video report on an alleged Israeli atrocity committed in Gaza. "

Judy, that is friggin Horrific, I hope they hang him by his nuts! I too do not think he was a terrorist, but then I do not live there, having a terrorist organization claiming responsibility is just another way of these terrorists ploy to inflame Israeli citizens against some who may be Arab and want no part of the violence.  Poor child, I can not imagine what his family must be going through, my condolences to them.

Hi Barry,

Even if he is not part of an organized terrorist entity, around this part of town all acts such as these are identified as terrorist until proven otherwise. In the past these kinds of acts have ended up as an act of terror.
