Although the country is not what the great thinker, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, had dreamt about Pakistan, the 132nd birthday of the Poet of the East is being observed across the country on Sunday (November 9).
LAHORE: Shair-e-Mashriq (The Poet of the East) Allama Iqbal’s 132nd birthday is being observed today all across the country with great zeal and fervour.

Almost all the small and big cities in the country are holding seminars, symposiums and different functions to celebrate the birthday of the National Poet. Pakistan Navy contingent led by Captain Mobin Ashraf assumed the charge of the guards at the Mazar-e-Iqbal in a befitting ceremony of the change of guards held here. Naval Commodore Syed Hassan Mustafa also paid tributes at the Mazar-e-Iqbal by laying wreaths and offering Fateha. He also penned down his emotions on the book kept over there.

Following the change of guards’ ceremony, Punjab University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kamran Mujahid accompanied by the University teachers paid his respect to the Muffakir-e-Pakistan (The Thinker of Pakistan), laid wreaths on the Mazar-e-Iqbal and offered Fateha.
