180 Tamil Tigers "killed" - SLA The Sri Lankan army says its soldiers have killed at least one-hundred-and-eighty Tamil Tiger rebels, after a weekend of intense fighting in the north-east of the island.

A Sri Lankan military spokesperson told the BBC that the army had also suffered casualties but the number was minimal.
