NEWS UPDATE ABSTRACT FROM NHK NEWS CHANNEL TODAY 27/08/08

In eastern Afghanistan, the search continues on Wednesday for a member of a Japanese non-governmental organization who was kidnapped by an armed group.

Kazuya Ito, a member of the NGO Peshawar-kai, was taken hostage near Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar Province, on Tuesday morning.

About 700 people including local police and civilians searched the mountainous region until dusk on Tuesday, where the kidnapping occurred.

Police are questioning a man suspected of belonging to the group of kidnappers. They say he claims to be a member of an Islamic militant group close to the Taliban.

A Taliban spokesperson has told NHK in a telephone interview that their group is responsible for the kidnapping.

He said all foreigners who are cooperating with the United States are their enemies, even if they are in Afghanistan to help rebuild the country.

ORIGINAL STORY_____________________________________________________________________

As the News is coming out slowly it does also get more amazing though, Apparently the Group that kidnaped the Kazuya Ito and the 4 Afghan ended up being surrounded by Villagers and local Police, numbering as many as 2000 to force the release of the hostages, that where all much liked by the locals. It seems like an incredible civil uprising with much courage and bravery involved

NHK news just announced that Japanese Hostage, his driver and apparently 3 more Afghan Workers have been taken hostage earlier and been released.

Detail still to come.

A Japanese NGO Worker was Kidnapped earlier in Afghanistan and may have been released now, the details are still to come and have not yet been confirmed.

31 Year old Mister Ito Kazuya a Japanese Agricultural NGO volunteer worker  was Kidnapped earlier and released today in the eastern part of Afghanistan, The Japanese Embassy has not yet released details.
