The Prime Minister of Egypt Essam Sharaf, has called an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss lethal clashes between Muslims and Christians in Cairo. The Egyptian Army says the nearly 200 people arrested, are to face military trial in connection with deadly clash. Ten people have been killed and some one hundred injured. The conservative Salafist Muslim crowd surrounded a church in which they believed Christians were holding a woman who wants to convert to Islam, following her marriage to a Muslim man. Shots were fired at the Church and several buildings set alight. It took the security forces several hours to control the fighting. Salafist are thought to make just a fraction of Egypt's Muslims but they have become very vocal since the fall of Mubarak in February. And many Christians who number around 10 percent of the population fear for their safety if conservation Muslim groups do very well in the elections scheduled for September.
