2 Israeli Police Jailed for Killing and Abducting Palestinian Boy
Two Israeli police officers have been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years and five-and-a-half years in jail, respectively, over the assault, abduction, and eventual killing of a 17-year-old Palestinian boy near Hebron.
The 2002 events that led to the death of the boy paint a grim picture of the two officers, who were found to have beaten, abducted, and forced the boy to jump from a vehicle that was travelling 80 km/h.
Sadly, this was not their only victim, as the police officers were discovered to have "also assaulted several other Palestinians on the same day".
An Israeli court has sentenced two former police officers to jail for their role in killing a Palestinian teenager.
In 2002 both men were Israeli border police working in the West Bank.
Jerusalem's District Court has found they abducted a 17-year-old Palestinian boy in Hebron, beat him, and forced him to jump from a police car travelling at 80 kilometres per hour.
The victim had managed to hold on to the car's roof, but the police eventually forced him out.
One officer shouted that he was dead. The court said the police then drove away without offering medical assistance and tried to eliminate the evidence.
The pair also assaulted several other Palestinians on the same day.
The men were sentenced to eight-and-a-half years and five-and-a-half years in jail respectively.

That is so sad, how awful.

It's good to see that they have been sentenced. If someone killed my kid in this horrible, senseless way, I would blame the people who gave them power. I would become their enemy. Maybe the Israelis should have tried the police officers for endangering the state because that's exactly what they've done.

I think it.s a pretty soft sentence for what they did. I thought we were soft on crime in Canada. Latimer got more for mercykilling his daughter.

Tina,
This has nothing to do with WAR. and everything to do with these two cops. period. To extend this beyond that is a bit of a stretch. It unfortunately happens in other countries as well. The courts here usually follow EU sentencing requirements. But as far as I am concerned they should have been locked up for ever. We are a bit more lenient then the States.
This is the report from an Israeli left-wing newspaper. Just for the record.
