These 20 cities were shamefully inducted into the 2008 Racism Hall of Fame, due to the poor Racial Relations within their regions before, during and pursuant to Obama's Election. I think its time for CHANGE don't you?

Who or what's your source of the data?

wow, I'm proud to see that my home state of AL wasn't listed being that it's been less than 50 years since some of the worst acts of racial violence occurred there.

keep it real in d bama

Alabama is the most black hating state in the world the only problem is that don,t that many people come here to see with their own eyes. the people still live in the 60,s and white people will still tell you how they feel about blacks. they just pass a law in 2004 that allow blacks to marry whites and there are still laws on the book that still speak about what the master can and cannot do to blacks they still haven,t change to this day i,m a black man and i don,t hate white people i just wish they would get their mind right so we all can get alone because we are not going anyway and i live close and travel the same road that the freedom rider where bomb each and everyday and for closer we had the same wallace running our state up untill the 2000 this is the one that said with his own mouth that blacks would never go to school with whites and order the police to unlesh attack dogs on black so nothing has change in this little they just make it look in front of other but this is some of the thing that yhe u.s don,t know about racial alabama.

Very Biased as Columbia SC and SC in general has very little White on Black crime to speak of.  There are many Black folks in politics here.  There are many integrated communities here.  I live in one of them.  Now when I go up north, I still see Pittsburgh nearly segregated  by race and ethnic group.  When I visited North PA I didn't see a Black person for two weeks.  NJ, and NY have similar living situations.  In SC we shop, work, worship, and live close together.  Your data is not based on any REAL research.  It appears to be based on perception.  Now if you can provided me some statistically significant data... I will apologize for all to see.

Thanks for reading my post on Racism one of America's worst Parasites.

I gathered my data from various sources. If you click on the links included in the story you can view those sources.

In addition the names of my sources are also listed at the bottom of the post.

Shouldn't you be more concerned that this type of negative Human Behavior still exists in Modern American Society, as opposed to just being concerned about my sources?

Just because Black and Whites might perhaps live in the same community doesn't mean they are both being treated the same in every facet of life.

If the playing field was level then why are U.S. Minority citizens still at the bottom of the barrel in this country?

Are you implying that its simply ALL of our fault? Think again

Peace

You are telling me that you have a definitive source that has data that supports Columbia, SC are in the top 20 racist cities in America?  You use someone who stated that Obama was treated poorly on the campaign trail.  I was on the trail when Obama was in SC, GA, and Florida.  Obama was received with excitement every where he went.  You might want to read my articles with Obama/Oprah, Debates etc.

Your statement about me thinking it was your fought... Not sure exactly what you mean.  Data is important when you provide a list.  Otherwise it is an opinion piece and should be labled that way.

Politisite,

I count it an honor you find this post interesting enough to engage in such meaningful conversation regarding the terrible issue of Racism that has plagued America for centuries. (Please know this will be my last comment regarding this post.)

Yes President-Elect Obama was for the most part well received on the campaign trail, however you seem to forget that he also STILL experienced an undo amount of Discrimination and Prejudice, just because of his ethnicity.

If anything Obama's candidacy exposed and bought to the surface just how Racist this nation STILL is.

His strength was admired in that he did not allow what could have been an insurmountable obstacle, deter him from his achieving his goal. Thank God!

The origin of Racial Discrimination derives from Ignorance, Fear, Narrow-mindness and Stupidity. There are NO Superior Human Races and No Inferior Human Races! We are ALL created Equal and in God's Image.

My post was based upon FACTS not Fiction, nor just personal opinion.

Considering your knowledge of the study of Human Behavior, I am quite astonished that you are more concerned with the sources of which I HAVE provided, then the actual extremely Destructive Mentality of Racism itself.

Thus you must perceive that it is just "normal" human behavior to be overlooked like perhaps a bad nail-biting habit.

Both my Mother and Step-Father served in the U.S. Army, in fact my Step-Father retired from that branch after 22 years of Active Duty service.

Guess what? Due to his ethnicity (African-American) he also witnessed and experienced a certain amount of Racial Discrimination just as Obama did.

However just like Obama he didn't allow it to make him quit.

Last but certainly not least, let's see on Nov. 4th did President-Elect Obama win South Carolina?  No!

Did he win Georgia?  No!

Did he win Florida? Barely but it was a terrible fight to the finish. In fact he had to send some of his Attorneys who volunteered to ensure that the G.O.P. would not steal the election in that state via the use of "Voting Irregularities".

As it relates to Racial Relations in this country its definitely time for CHANGE don't you think?

May God have Mercy on us if we refuse to CHANGE.

I bid you and your family much Peace and Blessings in 2009.

Bye

Let me give you a quote from PE Obama while on the Campaign Trail here in SC.  "I didn't see a Black South Carolina, or a white South Carolina, I saw South Carolina"

BTW, for political reasons, Florida is not a southern state. It is an extension of Michigan, NY, NJ, and Ohio. He did not campaign in Florida. Hilliary Clinton used poor tactics by buying adds in Savannah and other south Georgia towns that bleed into Florida. It was Bill Clinton who drew the race card in SC by alluding that Obama won in SC only because Jesse Jackson won here.

In politics states are broken down differently.  Pennsylvania for example is called Philadelphia to the east, Pittsburgh to the west and Alabama in the Middle.

Obama could not have won in SC here if whites did not come out in force for him.

Now regarding Nov 4th.  Obama did better in the south then did the last two WHITE democrat presidential candidates

You might want to add Oklahoma to this list. Do some research on that, you will be surprised.

I am from West Virginia and I resent and respect the label that most of our residents have as racists.

Like everywhere else in our country, we suffer great economic problems and are surrounded by five wealthy states. We are outcasts politically and socially. We are, as yet, not a part of post Civil War prosperity and our position in the Civil War along with our harsh terrain has left us wondering how it is that there has never been any recognition to our state  of the men who fought to free the slaves??

My grandfather was a Civil War hero who received the Congressional MEdal of Honor for capturing the Confederate flag and has only recently had his grave marked with any distinction.

Before addressing our entire state as racists, perhaps the better and more educated approach would be to think what idealism has done for us. We have been rejected by the North as being only partially dedicated (because we split from Virginia during the war) and the South views us as traitors.  What was gained by the lives lost and what did we profit??

This state, regardless of having the longest Senate Majority Leader in history, Robert Byrd, is the state that is passed through but not lived in.

Like other people, we are sometimes lead astray by self-pitying and depression trurned to anger when we see that we work hard and our government does nothing to recognise it. Our state government has been fraught with fraud and corruption. Our justice system only works for the wealthy and our labor force has been impoverished by state and federal agencies that have allowed our jobs to be shipped overseas. Our children have nowhere to go and no advocates to say "Hey, you underpriviledged third world Americans, let's set up a plan whereby your work and taxes will net you jobs and a future for your kids.

It is infuriating to find that the survey done by this panle shows us as not having many hate crimes prosecuted...it's no wonder. I live in a county that has only a hanful of minoirites and nobody is targeting them.

Our young men go to war after war and come home to poverty. Our blood is worth nothing, our efforts are worth nothing and our government is the most lacking of all.

I am tired of rich people complaining about the poor. Money is a gift from God to be used in the way outlined in the Bible. IT has nothing to do tih hard work or honesty, if it were so, we would be obsenely wealthy in this state. IT has nothing to do with the righteous because our state boast more churches percapita than anywhere. It has nothing to do with honesty because ask any West Virginian a question and stand back to hear an honest answer. God gives wealth to people to distribute not to hoard and those blessed with riches will be judged for the dispuursement of it.

We do not have minorities here....not our fault, they didn't settle here. They went North for prosperity or stayed South and stuck it out. We have very little blacks a few foreign doctors and that is it.

The foreigners find that they are respected and thanked for their service. They find homes here and provide much needed services and they retire here. What sense would there be in that if we are such horrible people? Why not leave and take the money they earned here elsewhere.

Do we resent the blacks who profitted by our sacrifices and gave nothing back now, in our time of need?? Yes, probably to some extent but look at the millions of West Virginians that voted for Barak Obama....this, in a racist state. Strange but true, lots of us voted for him because we need somebody who can remove his head from his posterior and that of others so that he can honestly assess the problems we face. MY ENTIRE FAMILY VOTED FOR OBOMA....every generation from the 80 year olds to the first time voters. We have and will stand up, if respectfully asked, for what we believe in every time!!

If you were to take a poll and ask "If you had to choose a President from amongst this group who would you choose"

An African American

George W. Bush

A Hispanic American

A Jewish American

A West Virginian

Which would you choose?"

This would illustrate to you, the extent of our frustration. We keep hearing about the mistreatment of African Americans but I venture to guess, if there were an analysis of our income versus theirs, you would find the dispairity in our corner. Perhaps some of the racism comes from the pride factor of the people that get more recognition for their troubles than we do.

I have no racism in me. I have been accused of it because I am such a white girl...almost albino, and I am astounded by the stupidity of it. I am too white to be considered as "cool" by the way I look. I don't fit the Hollywood tanned people model. I consider myself as the most oppressed in America!! Poor, very white and fed up with the nonsense.

None of us want a country that is a dung-heap!! Do we really want the slums and the vast amount of beggars on the streets. I find it ironical to find that the wealthy want to avoid taxes. Where will they take their wealth when the streets are full of beggars...what success is that??? The least that they should invest in is productivity to keep people off of the streets!! I am sure that in Mexico, there are a lot less beggars on the streets because of us!! Will it take New York becoming like Calcutta before the pride inour people is diminished enough to "care" about their welfare?? God did not make a world so small as to not provide for all but man has shrunken his heart so small that he does not feel the need to share.

I know of people in India that work 7 days a week, born into poverty, pulling a rickshaw every day form sun-up to sun-down to get one daughter married. If there ever was a person more deserving of wealth...this is it!! I know brilliant people who spend their lives caring for the poor, if ever there was a more deserving person of life's best, this is it. I see these whining post-adolescents of our society who have been born with silver spoons intheir mouths who cannot llook beyond their compact mirros and I think what a waste of a human being. I can honestly say, West Virginians are the farthest from being human trash that there is but we are treated this way and now that we are happy to have, what appears tobe a sensible president, the racist issue is dragged out with all of the stinking ignorance attached to it!!

I have written President Obama asking for understanding for our people and advancements for our futures. I hope that he uses wisdom in h8is judgements and understanding or this state will become completely destitute!! We are now being forced out of our properties by retireees from out of state who can afford to take over properties that have been owned for generations by the same families. You see, we pay the same for taxes and automobiles, food, health care and insurance as anyone else. We pay the same tuitions and we have a state property and income tax that is higher than most and we are very poor.

I would appreciate some educated responses and some positive consideration in the future.

I think it is funny that you don't consider your self a racist but you say that your state resents blacks who went on to profit from all your state did to help them you must be kidding.YOU ARE A RACIST and if most in your state think like you then you deserve to be on the list.Blacks did not prosper from anything you did. They struggled for years with jim crow laws and people like you thinking they should bow and beg and kiss your boots for doing something you really did not believe in. You may not hate blacks as much as the deep southern states but you still do and the economic issues your state is going through is the same thing that a lot of inner city (minorities) have been going through for hundreds of years.

I think one of the best quotes I've heard recently was "Fu*k Jesse Jackson because it isn't about race now". This was from a black man by the way. .

I've fortunate enough to live all over the country in my lifetime. The 5 years I lived in WV area (Martinsburg,WV     Charles Town, WV   Hagerstown,MD ) I really didn't see, or deal with, a large amount of racism. You have the good old boys and rednecks of course, but there were more outsiders that had moved in to where it made it a more level playing field. Maybe it was because there were more 'normal' people as opposed to idiots?  Anyways, it's a beautiful place to visit, with lots of history. .   I'd never live there again though!

i am from new york city, and would nominate it as the most racist place in the world. i had never heard more ignorant stereotypes spoken than in nyc. i have lived throughout america and the world, and i have to say that even redneck american towns cant beat nyc. the problem with nyc is you have alot of ignorant immigrants from around the world who bring with them a lot of backward ideas from their original country. people in nyc are obsesed with nationality. instead of just seeing people as people, theyre always trying to find out what nationality you are so they can make some pre judgement about you.

It's better to be postive if you believe in God and If you don't believe in God, believe in Good. Negitive energy drains the heart and breakes down the soul and can cause early death (from stress and hate). Spend life being "FREE".  Live Life today because tomorrow is not garunteed.  It is time to change that old way of thinking that people are better than other people because of the skin color.  Its not going to end until we end it (Racism). Time to learn about the different cultures that make-up this beautful and colorful country that we all entered on a BOAT except for the Native American who are the true owners of this country.

 God Bless AMERICA!
