14:28 Beijing time an earthquake of 7.6 on the Richter scale struck Wenchuan in Sichuan (around 10 km northwest of Chengdu.
The tremor was felt in Shanghai. People where evacuated from many offices in Shanghai. At Jiangsu Rd/Yuyuan Rd people working in the office tower behind was standing waiting for information. One of the staff in the building said this office was swaying alarmingly for about 30 seconds and that they where told to evacuate.
