In 2012 Internet providers want to limit amount of websites you can visit
06/01/2008 - Every significant Internet provider around the globe is currently in talks with access and content providers to transform the internet into a television-like medium: no more freedom, you pay for a small commercial package of sites you can visit and you'll have to pay for separate subscriptions for every site that's not in the package.
Almost all smaller websites/services will disappear over time and multinationals who are used to using big budgets to brute force their content into every media outlet will finally be able to approach the internet in the same way.
This well-known illustration of why we need net neutrality turns out to be very close to the truth:
What can we do?
Internet providers have realized that the only way to not lose massive amounts of customers over this is to make sure there are no alternatives, that's why all major Internet providers are currently making agreements and planning to switch simultaneously somewhere in the year 2012. This is currently all going on under very strict NDA's (Non-Disclosure Agreements) because the last thing they want is the masses speaking out against it.

What if NowPublic wasn't one of the sites on that small 200 website list?
There is no way this can ever happen.

I do not believe this. I think it is paranoid conspiricy BS! ISP's make money from subscribers not from media companies, last I checked. What would stop me from starting up a non-restrictive ISP to take all the disgruntled subscribers and making a ton of money (and don't say money because I raise money for companies and could raisew TONS under this senario. They may wish this was possible but there are too many ways to make money defeating this initiative. No natural monopoly has EVER existed in the world (even De Beers was not a monoploy in it's prime market control time). Adde to that billions are made in online porn. You think the tail that wags the dog will go peacefully? Nope! Relax. This just isn't going to happen.

Honestly, the likelihood of such an occurrence is slim to none. However, in the event of such an attempt, the computer geniuses of the world and thousands of hackers would immediately take down the entire "internet 2," resulting in mass financial chaos, government destruction, and utter anarchy as the world's financial markets crashed. However, this entire proposal is ridiculous as the US gov't or any other is not stupid enough to allow/support such a thing as it would lead to a destruction of these gov'ts. It sounds like another one of those "2012 apocalypse" hoaxes.

actually im in alaska right now all the companies up here for the most part have there cheaper internet deals with limiting internet usage starting from 3gigs upto 10gigs and for the free roam unlimited usage is costly even with the discount packages. i've been calling all the other companies from the lower 48 states and none of them have service up here and i explained that they restrict usage up here and ther like yea a lot of companies are starting already, ALREADY ppl!!! I dont see the sense in it at all, its like the gas prices, they went up even though they didnt need to. Just a bunch of CEOs scared of a bunch of hippie talk thats all.

Oh my god, you are just a dumb fuck. Seriously, you have no ideas on how does the Internet works right?
Anyone who believe this are just moron. Shut the fuck up and stop spreading such nonsense. Go fuck yourself.

Also think about this, they did the same with TV and switched it to digital TV were everyone get a more of a crappy signal, they probably thought about it over years ago and not let it go public until it was made law over in the US. Someone might have known and tried to tell the public but no one would believe them until it happened, and now we have the same thing going on with the internet where we have to pay for a certain amount of websites. Think about it.

This isn't true it is an article posted to bring in web traffic.
To start out, one of the sites listed is Google. Why the hell would you need Google if you could only access a very limited amount of sites. The image displayed is Photoshopped and unrealistic.
This claim is bullshit. If you had any idea about the amount of capabilities the internet provides you would not be starting this rumor.
You don't have any sources, you don't even cite any providers.
Don't continue writing articles.
