Matthew Vanderpool,  24 years old, gay,  with $150 in donations and no college degree wins Kentucky House of Representatives Seat ;  unseats GOP incumbent 

An openly gay 24-year-old with a scant $150 in campaign donations and with no college diploma to his name has won the Democratic primary for the 45th district of Kentucky's house of representatives. 
Matthew Vanderpool beat out rival Mark Coblenz, 50, a patent attorney and veteran who raised approximately $6,000 for his campaign. 

The two were in a race to unseat the incumbent, Republican state representative Stan Lee.
